Frequently asked Questions

Question:

When do I need to use Dry or Wet abrassives to polish ?

Answer:

Wet or Dry use of Abrasives has everything to do with the material you will work on.  Some materials will show burning marks sooner or later in the polishing process. This is due to heat build-up, caused by excessive speed or pressure. It also depends on the mixture of the resin. KGS offers abrasives optimized for Wet use or specifically for Dry use, and also offers a range which can be applied in either way: EG - the KGS Hybrid range. Note that you need a special grinder for wet use.

Question :

How can I polish granite with a flex grinder ?

Answer :

Firstly, please note that not all grinders are suitable for polishing stone. You really need a quality grinder with the correct speed (rpm). This relates to the speed and pressure you have to apply to let the diamond work correctly and also to comply with safety regulations.  Granite is one of most beautiful and at the same time one of the most difficult materials to polish well. It needs a diamond abrasive to achieve a superb polished surface. For flex grinders KGS offers Speedline ORG and the Hybrid range which can be used either Wet or Dry.
